Webinar Description - Introduction to Green IT - November 27, 2008

Information technology is an essential component of every organization’s infrastructure, but also an area with significant environmental impacts. Fortunately, there are ways to mitigate your impacts.

Webinar Description - Conducting a Green IT Assessment - December 4, 2008

You understand the environmental impacts associated with computers, peripherals, and other IT equipment--e-waste, toxic chemicals, climate change emissions--not to mention the rising cost of energy! You'd like to start making changes in your workplace, but don't know how to assess your IT impact--and how that impact should affect the "green" decisions you'll make. Should you focus on power management software or greening your data center? Replacing your computers with more efficient models or eliminating individual printers? We can help.

In this 60-minute presentation you'll learn about:

  • general components of a Green IT audit
  • a tool to conduct a do-it-yourself IT audit (including step-by-step instructions)
  • where to find resources to help you get started

This webinar is designed for IT directors, IT professionals and sustainability managers looking to evaluate and improve the environmental performance of the IT department. It is also suitable for individuals who are looking for a more in-depth understanding of how an organization can assess its IT impact.

Jessica Vreeswijk, the founder of GreenITTools.com, will be presenting both webinars. Jessica has spent the last six years providing IT project management, operations management, consulting and technical services in the corporate, government and not-for-profit sectors. GreenITTools.com provides practical, hands-on tools for IT managers in small- to medium-sized businesses to assess and reduce the impact of IT. The Green IT Guide and Toolkit for Sustainable Business offers first-hand advice and best practices based on Jessica's own experience in spearheading a Green IT program.

Feedback from Previous Webinar

"Ms. Vreeswijk has clearly put an incredible amount of time and thought into the creation of Green IT processes and tools. Brilliant presentation. We need to get her up to Toronto to deliver this to the midmarket-centric Canadian business population. One of the most practical and actionable presentations I've attended on Green IT. "
