Blog Many businesses looking to upgrade their computers are left with little options for their legacy equipment. Recycling choices for computers are growing, but getting a financial return on your retired equipment is still hard to come by. A new recycling program from Wirefly, an online retailer of cell phones, is changing that with a new trade-in program.
This new trade-in program allows users to send in their desktop computers, laptops, and monitors via postage paid mail for a cash return. To begin the process, a financial assessment of the device is first conducted online. This easy to use form gives you an estimate of what your device is worth and then prompts you to print a shipping label. Once properly packaged the user can send the device to Wirefly free of charge. Wirefly is able to offer this service for more than cellphones with the help of the Consumer Electronics Exchange (CExchange).
The CExchange attempts to refurbish all equipment received for reuse or repurpose. If the machines are damaged or too out of date, the CExchange will then ensure the machines are safely recycled within the US.
Wirefly has added a unique option to their recycling program by giving the user the option of receiving their funds or donating them directly to an affiliated charity of your choice.
The biggest draw back of this feature is that it is currently only offered in the US. This means if you’re outside of the US, you should look to your local recycling facilities for electronic equipment recycling.
