Many businesses looking to upgrade their computers are left with little options for their legacy equipment. Recycling choices for computers are growing, but getting a financial return on your retired equipment is still hard to come by. A new recycling program from Wirefly, an online retailer of cell phones, is changing that with a new trade-in program.

Many consumers trying to incorporate green IT practices make sustainable purchases. Although a large part of sustainability, consumers are less likely to look at what happens to purchases at the end of their life. Recycling hardware should be common sense, but many so-called recyclers are instead shipping e-waste to under-developed countries. As well, many consumers are unaware that IT equipment has value at the end of its life and asset recovery can be done before recycling. Initiatives are being put in place to help ensure products are being properly recycled. This article will expand on those programs that help to keep e-waste from the landfill.
